Department of Allied Science
The Allied Sciences Department comprising of departments like physics, chemistry & Mathematics, started in 2011. The department has well-equipped physics and chemistry labs with all new modern equipment & state of the art facilities. The department has experienced and committed staff members who not only teach academics but also help the students in their curricular and Co- curricular activities. The Department which is a stage for the students to present their skills and also to get interacts with the latest trends in the field of Science & Technology.
Vision
- The department of Allied Sciences is committed to inculcate competence and proficiency in the students in the field of basic sciences, technology and personality development so that they can think critically & logically, communicate clearly, and live ethically.
- The department is dedicated to provide fundamental education through promoting research in diverse and interdisciplinary field.
Mission
- To develop a strong scientific foundation through fundamental principles of physics, chemistry and mathematics to pursue a successful engineering carrier and to train the students to apply these basic principles in real world situation.
- To integrate human values and social concerns with technical education.
Department of Chemistry in Shetty Institute of Technology came into existence in the year 2011.
The department takes active participation in all the activities of the college.
The main objective of Engineering Chemistry Laboratory is to furnish the conceptual understanding of the basic principles involved in chemical analysis.
Most of the experiments are correlated to the theoretical concepts Chemistry education plays an important role in enhancing the quality of teaching, research and development as well as ensuring that students are equipped with good knowledge. The Chemistry laboratory at SIT gives the student a safe environment to carry out their experiments and explore scientific facts and phenomenon under the supervision of the faculty members.
The Chemistry lab is well equipped with apparatus and sufficient stock of chemicals to perform various experiments and projects as prescribed in their curriculum. Separate place for storing chemicals and work tables with acid proof tiles makes it highly safe for the students to perform experiments.
The department came into existence in the year 2011 along with the institution itself to teach Mathematics for Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Production Engineering, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering students.
Mathematics is the queen of all subjects. Day to day happenings cannot be imagined without Mathematics. For the Engineers it is an indispensable tool. Wherever there is any engineering application we will see application of engineering mathematics. Few people do that application part, others just enjoy the fruits of the work. Its application is everywhere, from the simple pillars of a house to the mighty hydroelectric dams, from a car on road to a satellite orbiting earth, weather predictions, financial markets, modeling any real life process, etc. Engineering mathematics is an interdisciplinary subject motivated by engineers’ needs both for practical, theoretical and to deal with constraints to be effective in their work. The students have studied mathematics before (calculus, linear algebra, numerical analysis) but when they study engineering subjects which involve mathematics they often cannot relate mathematics to those subjects. Students can be motivated to understand their engineering problems better. Mathematics lecturers are encouraged to provide mathematics problems which are more related to engineering fields.
The Department of Physics was established in the year 2011 as a basic academic unit for all the engineering branches of the college. The Department has well qualified, experienced and highly motivated faculties. The faculties of the Department teach Applied Physics course for I year B E Students.
CAED Lab It is utilized by undergraduate students for software-aided drafting of 2D drawings. CAED is a technique where engineering drawings are produced with computer assistance, serving as a graphical means of representing a drawing or design.
CAED involves preparing drawings of objects on a computer screen, supporting various types of drawings across engineering and science fields. Mechanical or aeronautical engineering focuses on machine component drawings and layouts, civil engineering involves building plans and layouts, and electrical engineering deals with power distribution system layouts. In all engineering fields, computers are utilized for drawing and drafting, with CAED offering enhanced graphics capabilities allowing designers to conceptualize ideas, modify designs easily, perform animations, make design calculations, and use colors, fonts, and other aesthetic features.
